According to on-chain data, two wallet addresses holding a total of 20,000 BTC ended their 14-year and 7-month dormant state late Thursday night. On April 3, 2011, the Bitcoin wallet address "1HqXB...gDwcK" transferred 23,377.83 BTC to three different addresses, with two addresses receiving 10,000 BTC each, and the third address receiving the remaining 3,377.83 BTC (Blockchain.com data).
The two addresses that received 10,000 BTC each - "12tLs...xj2me" and "1KbrS...AWJYm" - remained dormant for 14 years until they transferred their entire balance to new addresses within a 30-minute window late Thursday night to early Friday morning. The third wallet that received 3,377.83 BTC in 2011 had already used its funds that same year.
The two receiving addresses only recorded this single transaction since their creation. Over 14 years, the 20,000 BTC value skyrocketed from $7,800 to $2.18 billion, a staggering increase of 13,982,800%. The transfer's motivation, owner's identity, and whether the two addresses belong to the same controller remain unknown.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin's price remained stable over the past 24 hours, slightly dropping 0.09% to $109,064 at 1:30 AM UTC on Friday. In recent weeks, the world's largest cryptocurrency has consistently remained above the $100,000 resistance level, with analysts suggesting long-term macro catalysts could potentially push it past its historical high of around $118,000.
