Two famous industry analysts have become very optimistic about altcoin ETFs, predicting that eight different applications have a 90-95% chance of being approved by the SEC.
The assets mentioned include Litecoin, Solana, XRP, Dogecoin, Cardano, Polkadot, HBAR and Avalanche. They are also optimistic about a basket ETF but believe SUI only has a 60% chance.
Altcoin Season for ETF Approvals?
Since Bitcoin ETFs emerged, the cryptocurrency market has changed irreversibly. This first launch was a long and difficult battle, but enthusiasts hope Bitcoin will open doors to new opportunities.
The new SEC management has inspired a wave of altcoin ETF applications, and two Bloomberg analysts believe many are almost certain to succeed:
Their top choices for altcoin ETFs include all classic candidates like Solana and XRP. These analysts, James Seyffart and Eric Balchunas, have been tracking this race for months.
They previously selected Litecoin as the top candidate, but now it's a three-way race between these assets.
Five other altcoins have slightly lower approval chances. They give Sui 60% chance due to its uncertainty as a commodity, and do not rank TRON. Commentators asked about some other applications, but they only consider proposals with active Form 19b-4 filings.
So why are they so optimistic? After all, the SEC has delayed altcoin ETF applications on all fronts. It's important to remember that the Commission is actively engaging with these proposals.
A hostile SEC under Gary Gensler tried to ignore applications as long as possible, but today's Commission acknowledges them quickly.
Even if not moving as fast as the industry wants, the SEC is showing encouraging signs. Seyffart hypothesizes that final approval could happen as early as July or latest in October. Anyway, he thinks it will occur in 2025.
Fortunately, the community understands these obstacles. For example, widespread belief in XRP ETF success has surged to 98% early this month despite SEC delays.
It seems industry experts now have a similarly optimistic view about altcoin ETFs. Hoping the first approvals will start to be passed in the near future.
However, these optimistic predictions may not immediately translate into profitable investment opportunities. As of 06/2025, Bitcoin ETFs occupy 90% of the industry. Even if all eight altcoin ETFs are approved, BTC may continue to dominate market share.
